Fairy hair is a synthetic polyester fiber available in a wide range of colors. It is often referred to as tinsel or sparkles.

How does fairy hair work?

Each sparkle is hand-tied to a single strand of hair using a tiny latch hook. This technique causes no damage and lets the sparkle behave like your natural hair-you can brush, wash, color, cut, curl, and straighten to temperatures ranging from 375 to 425 degrees.

How long will it last?

How long they last depends on when the strand of hair the sparkle is tied to naturally sheds. Everyone sheds differently-the average person loses 50-100 hairs a day, and washing can release up to 200. So each sparkle's lifespan is unique. Some may fall out within a day; others could last weeks, months, or even longer.

Children tend to shed hair faster than adults, so fairy hair on little ones may be more temporary.

Tips to help your sparkles last longer

1) Arrive with freshly washed, dry, product-free hair. This helps shed hairs that were already ready to fall out and makes for better application.

2) Wait longer between washes (especially helpful for kids).

4) Brush from the ends up and work your way up, holding your hair to reduce snags and shedding.
