828 Jewels in the making!

828 Jewels blossomed in 2015 amidst the enchanting mountains of Asheville, North Carolina – its name a tribute to the area code, 828. Inspiration struck when my sister Karin gifted me a broken wooden leaf earring and challenged me to transform it. That single piece unlocked a wave of creativity. Guided by countless YouTube tutorials and fueled by persistence, I crafted my first Autumn Leaves collection using epoxy resin and mixed media. I showcased my work locally at craft events and in galleries and shops until relocating to my New York hometown in 2021.

Shortly after settling back in New York, I was thrilled to become a vendor at the Windmill Farm and Craft Market. As my first season drew to a close, I realized the importance of diversifying.

Inspired by watching "Fairy Kim" (now known as FairyKimSparkles) weave her sparkling magic at Asheville's Whole Foods craft market – and seeing the sheer delight it brought people – I knew I wanted to add fairy hair to my offerings. With my background in cosmetology, it was a perfect fit. I proposed the idea to the Windmill jury.

Thankfully, they approved! Back to "YouTube University" I went, practicing diligently with a fairy hair salon starter pack for two weeks before launching. It's been an incredibly fun and exciting journey ever since, with fairy hair flourishing and filling our days with smiles, joy, and wonder!
